“Starlight and Storm” by Gaston Rebuffat was the last book I read. For me it is one of the best books in this genre - travelogue. The book was written by one of the best alpinists. The book is very interesting, fascinating, short, richly illustrated, inspiring and you can read it on at once. It talks about how Gaston Rebuffat, a young guide from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, climbed the sixth northern walls of the Alps in the 1930s: Matterhorn, Cima Grande di Lavaredo, Petit Dru, Piz Badile, Eiger and Grandes Jorasses. The author"s writing style is easy to read. He describes simply and clearly a terrain, a route or an event, and you are left with the feeling that it is happening before you and that you are experiencing it.
“... besides the victory over one great mountain, there is another virtue - prudence.”
I highly recommend it!
